The Florida Journal of International Law is seeking
submissions from both scholars and practitioners for its
2026 Spring Symposium Issue that is related to the law
of defensive uses of force. Articles should focus on
obligations under International Law when contemplating
uses of force or responding to them. The Journal is
especially interested in submissions that navigate state
responsibility towards aggressors, third parties, and
targets of retaliatory force.
Submissions must be in Microsoft Word format and must be between 10,000 words and 25,000
words, including footnotes. Citations must be in the form of Footnotes, not Endnotes, and must
conform to the standards specified in the 21st edition of the Bluebook. Manuscripts submitted via
Scholastica, our google form, or those emailed to fjilsymposium@law.ufl.edu will be considered
for publication in the Spring 2026 Symposium Issue.
All manuscripts must be accompanied by a resume/CV but those submitted via Scholastica
should also be accompanied by a cover letter specifying the author’s interest in consideration for
publication in the Symposium Issue specifically. All Symposium-related communications,
including those pertinent to publication, will be conducted through fjilsymposium@law.ufl.edu.
The Journal will consider any conforming submission that it receives by November 8, 2025.
